Located in a lovely area near a lake and mountains. Comfortable room with an inside 'balcony' looking into trees. The shower room and soaking tub also had the same view. Separate sink for tea making. Large Dining Room with some tables looking out over the stream into the trees and in the evening you might see a deer grazing. Worth booking a room if that is how you secure one of these tables. Nice Japanese dinner and breakfast served on an interesting assortment of dishes. The odd jarring note was that the self-service tea at breakfast was in paper cups! They were good about catering for my dietary needs. Good Public Baths which opened out to the grassy area looking into the stream and trees. I particularly enjoyed the outside rocky bath and the small cedar 'barrel'

We stayed at the room with river view which looked astonishingly nice at the sunset. Forest behind the river glittered in fluorescent blue green under shadow cast by sunset and with river reflecting it made a whole view more than just a scenic. A private hot tub in our room with the window view of the forest was something, something that you can not taste just by reading comment. For the breakfast, we chose Japanese style breakfast. They were authentic and even offered more small plate choices called "okokoro ma de" which you could possibly choose as many as you want. My wife and I was very pleased by their hospitality.

Perfectly situated in the tranquil banks of the Akan River away from the most touristy lodgings by the lake. In room bath is a bonus for those crowd adverse even if it was a bit tiny for anyone above 6ft. Riverview rooms is a must! How can you travel all the way here to scrimp a few dollars but sacrifice the wondrous experience living by a flowing river? Sumptuous spread of food despite some of the negative reviews - only meal that could do better was dinner from the first night (sorry you one-nighters). Stayed a total of 3 nights and the food thereafter is nowhere inferior to ryokans elsewhere.

The hotel was a pleasure to come back to in the evenings after a full days' worth of activities and driving around the surrounding great lakes. The river that runs by the hotel makes the vibe especially relaxing in the lobby and we were lucky enough on one of the night's during our stay to have seen a whole family of deer relaxing on the lawn. The room we got was river facing as well, and was large, clean and well air-conditioned though a bit dimly lit at night. We visited in late July 2024, so it wasn't too hot in the day time either. Location was very good if you have a car to get around in.

Absolutely lovely place to stay and wished i could stay longer! The room was perfect - good size, looking out across to the forest. Beautiful view to wake up to. They provide coffee and tea in the room, in a really nice set up - which one could enjoy by the window. There is also a personal onsen in the room. There are other private ones open to public. The dinner and breakfast meal were exceptional and an amazing experience - you get to eat the japanese fare not found in other hotels or regular restaurant and i think this in itself covers the price.
